Thy Catafalque was formed in 1998 by Tamás Kátai, the keyboardist/lyricist/programmer of the Hungarian Avantgarde metal band Gire. Originally Thy Catafalque has been intended to be an Avantgarde post-black metal project. But during the years Thy Catafalque left behind black metal. What remained is the extreme variety of songs that can be found on their most famous 2004 album "Tünö Idö Tárlat". They have two video clips, one for "Paths Untrodden" and one for "Csillagkohó". The latter infamous one is created for the band's most emblematic song. The band is composed of Tamás Kátai (keys, guitar, bass, programming and vocals) and János Juhász (guitar and bass). Their lyrics are mostly about Time and Space but one can find some poems written by Tamás Kátai (just like in the case of Gire) that deal with autumn and death. However "Tünö Idö Tárlat" also features poem covers by various poets of Nyugat. So far they released a demo and three full-length albums and every one of them has a dark, gloomy, relatively cold atmosphere.
