Finally, "The Tragic Tantrum" have released their long-awaited debut album "Mirror, Mirror"!"The Tragic Tantrum"? Who the heck is that? Well, it is a band, you should definetly know!
Their songs combine angel-like operatic vocals with the deep and soothing voice of an Amanda Palmer, which becomes more aggressive and more in-yer-face every now and then. Zoe Tantrum seems to be a chameleon-vocalist, full of power and energy, yet fragile and beautifully soft. Zeph Tragic creates playful and dark melodies playing piano, electric guitar, synth and even toy xylophone. But what would a Dark Cabaret band be without a drummer? They have one, of course: Darrin Lee.
The lyrics range from humor and romance to tragedy and rage, criticize the ideal of beauty ("Beautiful") or deal with tales of little, furry monsters ("The Silent"), all of them glistening with poetry.
When you listen to the album, you can absolutely feel all the blood and love, "The Tragic Tantrum" put into it. That's probably the reason why the whole listening experience becomes so intense.
So if you like/love Birdeatsbaby, The Dresden Dolls, Stolen Babies or Harlequin Jones, then you'll be digging this one as well. Everybody else should at least give a listen to them, they deserve it. And they do deserve more, more, MUCH MORE support.
