.........................................................................................................................................................
This is a toy box, you know. You can enter it through the front door, the back door, the window or the chimney. But be careful, whoever you may be: Once you enter, everything, I mean really everything could happen to you... and so many rooms to choose
Room No. 1: "She Who Is Made Of Salt"
The sound of a distorted guitar embracing a scratching voice. It tells of a little girl, made of salt and it's simply roughly beautiful... A nice thing to begin with
Room No. 2: "Just Another Of My Glitches"
"If you see me crying, call an ambulance!" This is like the center of the toybox, the core. A mixture of electric guitar and toy accordion squeezing will make you shiver and probably dance while you imagine little dolls being heart-operated doing girly vocals.
Room No. 3: "To Serve God And My Country"
Bipolarity is waving here. Or maybe schizophrenia? Or maybe both? Whatever, there's murder and blood... and glitter. It is a perfect sing along tune for maniac people. Like me... and like you maybe?
Room No. 4: "Midnight"
What wonderful vocals, what catching rhythm. Can you see the dawn? The midnight? Heaven or hell? It is it all mashed up and perfectly decorated.
"I don't care if you say I'm pretty, I don't care if you say I'm nice!"
Amen!
Room No. 5: "Ugly Sick And Strange"
Wow! Here comes the acoustic guitar gracefully tumbling towards your ears. It is such a peaceful, yet critical and strong ballad. Like a lake you would love to drown in... pure and honest. Against all superficiality. And an ode to complicated love...
Room No. 6: "Narcissism In Carnage"
Blood-stained walls in here. Yet they paint a hauntingly pretty pattern. It seems like Hayley Jane uses every object she can use to create sounds in order to make their toy box the most wonderful on earth. Her voice is, like always, a soft whisper with a hidden edge of violence.
Room No. 7: "Off With Her Head"
This one dances on the border of a sneakingly brutal ballad-like song and a sing along pop/rock song with a dark touch. "She's so much prettier in death". The lyrics are very rude and gothy, the singing perfectly goes along.
Room No. 8: "Beautiful Dead"
Rock and flip out to this one. Again it's about cruel murder, but who cares? The punky tune, created by guitars and a fast rhythm, will surely amaze you and make you move. This is the way music should be: catchy and with a certain meaning/message (and a sprinkle of sarcasm), don't you think?
Room No. 9: "In The Dollhouse"
Probably the most dangerous, the most pressuring one, you'll find strolling through Hayley Jane's world. There's hate and threatening and her voice gets beautifully rough every now and then. The beat tops off this little pearl.
Room No. 10: "Blood Imperial (Bury Your Whore)
Oh, Hayley Jane, you're a genius. The high, girly singing in this one contradicts the gorey lyrics in such a great way. Imagine this song as a bloodstained, yet glittering sequin. That's how it is, nothing else I can say...
Gorgeous!
Room No. 11: "A Boy In Black"
It's so sad we have to say goodbye, the last room... But a perfect one to end this fantasy tour or begin it anew (maybe). A pretty love song, a little sad, a little bit like Hayley Jane. Simple and plain, yet amazing.
So after all, you've seen and heard, you can probably tell, that Hayley Jane's songs are somehow just unique. She has a style of her own and this style changes faster than a doll can jump out of the window of the second floor of the toy box into the bin outside.
