I want to thank Tentakel for the nice interview with Florian Toyka. It's been pleasant to read. But I shall ask for a translation of his final words fragment that is in german, as my poor german from 5 days in the country are less than insufficient to understand it.
Also, I missed some typical question about other projects, but this time would be most interesting because of the delay on the Island album and the proximity of another Gruenewald one. I guess we just have to wait for news.

@Adryuu: Thanks!

The translation, yes. I decided not to do it in the interview, because even in german it is... abstract. I´d roughly do it like this:

"Devour your tongue, enjoy the slowness".

As for the meaning: I am not sure if even Florian knows the meaning of this sentence, but know this: He told me that not everything concerning KLABAUTAMANN needs to make sense. Some things (some parts of the artwork, for example) are there just because of the sheer effect, much like abstract art. It has an impact on the listener/viewer, but it does not have a deeper meaning rather than its in every case. I mean, look at this sentence above, it DOES sound really... alien somehow, does it? Yet it could be (haven´t asked Florian this) that it is just a combination of words, like a sketch.

I think part of what appeals to me with KLABAUTAMANN is that even the musicians do not necessarily know everything behind the music/art, because that is to me what inspiration is about - to tap into some higher cosmic stream or whatever you may call it and channel this for the human senses.

Two examples for this:

ENOCHIAN CRESCENT- vocalist Wrath claims to have his lyrics dictated by angels, in enochian (language of angels) and states he acts only as a vessel.

Lisa Gerrard of a.o. DEAD CAN DANCE does not sing language (she might, now, with her solo albums, use english now and then) - she forms words based on the sounds the music dictates her to utter. She said it is like a baby´s stammering, who test and practices his speech by just doing something.

Well, thanks for the approximation! Strange indeed, nice way to end the interview. I understand your view on inspiration, and I enjoy that kind of art, name it abstract or whatever, in which everything is in its place just for the sake of the global image. It's just like what 'pure poets' did with only words. Kind of automatic writing, too. Interesting those things about Enochian and Dead can Dance, didn't know that. In tape times, I enjoyed an album by Enochian Crescent but never read the lyrics.

Btw: just listening to Merkur again (what a coincidence it was on my mp3 with Der Ort), and I will definitely buy this one when the new Island comes out (along with Valborg, that will make almost all Zeitgeister releases on my home! fuck!), the song 'Merkur' is pure goodness, now that I have digested it all.

Thank you for reading it.

I thank you too, Tentakel, the interview has been very interesting and nice to read, when I read the first part I was awating for the second one.

Where is your Ulver live report, Adryuu? I didn't know you had written one!

Here: http://www.avantgarde-metal.com/forum/v ... 2440#12440 started it all, but you can find it in the post next to that one.

It's by far not polished, but I have much longer texts about it on some blog, but it's in Spanish. If I had more time and willpower, I'd rewrite it along with some album reviews and see if you would allow me to be part of agm.com, but nowadays I'm too busy wasting/losing my time. Maybe one day...

I'm a bit late, but let's do this!

This is one of the most interesting and intelligent forums I have participated in. I have learned about so many different bands, both old and new, that my music collection has grown in leaps and bounds, and my appreciation for them respectively.

This.

The site and the forum are fantastic. Both the reviews and the suggestions on this forum have broadened my music library, and I'm very grateful for that! In fact, I'm currently going through ALL the old reviews I didn't see, to try out the bands.

It's very nice to see a civilized and interesting forum with no arguments (there have been tranquil debates at worst). I've said this to a friend of mine, who responded: "This just shows how weird you people really are". Seeing that something governed by people ACTUALLY works very positively, is also great.

It's hard to think of improvements. Only thing I can think of is more interviews (because I've really enjoyed the ones I've read), but I know that would be asking too much. I can imagine obtaining an interview would be hard work.

A thing that came to mind is comment space below the reviews for registered users, but can't decide if that would make things worse or better. Perhaps the review thread is enough.

I have thought also of the comments on each review/interview that you mention, JH, but I think it could get the page layout dirty sometimes. I mean, there could be arguments and shit and the reviews/interviews' pages look right and clean as they are.
Also, we (at least I) encourage the usage of the forum and so we have this thread.

Anyone can start a discussion topic on any review or interview, whenever, be it a recent one or the very first published! Just try. But I understand your point.

We could maybe just create subforums for the reviews, interviews, and beyond articles, but I think it's redundant with what we have now. Crew members who read this, think of it and maybe we can tell to the masterminds if we find it correct.

I also share your thoughts and those you quote from DimaensionX and I already told that in the ages forum one year ago. :D
Also I'm a big lot of glad to be actually a small part of this now, and I thank and salute Chrystof and all crew also from here!

The only thing I have heard that could improve the site is adding RSS support. But it's already been told to the masters.

What's weird is that we haven't had any trolls. At all. Some misunderstandings based on language barriers, but no hassle, no whining, no flaming, at all. For a forum this big, this public & for this long (2½ years now!), I mean... that's exceptional, considering that we're talking about Internet.

OK, I have one complaint: the ladies. Are there any female users active here? Maybe idling, but actively writing here? It's not like we have a male chauvinist pig atmosphere here. Maybe we're just too nerdy...?

Dreadful discovery: are we... the Trekkers of Metal? *gasp*

I think we are too weird for the trolls. I don't think they know our psychological anatomy

Maybe we are too weird for the ladies too . It's quite a task to find a woman that is weird(in a good way), open-minded and THAT interested in music. I'm not sexist, just speaking from personal experience. Perhaps that's just how girls from Rijeka and Udine are. :(

Actually... it's Trekkies! haha. I think we could be.

yes, the shitty/ing comments and messy factor is the one I thought could ruin the reviews. All in all, it's perfect as it is

I don't even know if using the wrong term is EPIC FAIL or EPIC WIN. A matter of perspectives, I suppose.

There's gotta be a few women on the list of members, aren't there?

Metal shouldn't be exclusive to men. More women are at metal concerts nowadays. Then again, one glance at the audiences at Wacken, Hell-fest, and so on makes me think otherwise.

I think we've lucked out as far as the trolls go, since AGM needs more intelligence and tolerance to listen to it anyway, so most of the dunder-headed knuckle-draggers avoid this forum (and write reviews for Global Domination.se).

Am I gonna get burned for that crack??
