No I think that's true - enjoying the music we focus on demands at least a slightly opened mind & disregard for tradition etc... Hm, and maybe a pinch of pretention refusing us to lower our outward online faces & personas to the level of "dunder-headed knuckle-draggers" ...
(I'm talking about myself here, mind y'all!)

I don't even know if using the wrong term is EPIC FAIL or EPIC WIN. A matter of perspectives, I suppose.

 That made me laugh.

Well, my girlfriend once posted here, but she has one only post and she doesn't look the forum unless I tell her to look something special. I guess she has enough with last.fm and other Spanish language forums where she actually knows people in real life.

There is at least two women in the forum that I know of, that post from time to time, but they could post more, and there could be more of them. It doesn't hurt.

And yeah, globaldomination guys are a bit annoying sometimes... I'll leave it there.

We have no trolls because they do not have a clue of what the hell we are talking about, also because someone interested in this forum is someone interested in learning things, not destroying other's minds or patience. Even, we could argue sometimes but we hardly do, I think I haven't seen any argument here, and absolutely never seen a bad word.
Shall I throw the first stone? Fuck you because you are great, agm.com people! :D

Yes, this is the best forum I have ever visited as far as behaviour goes and I enjoy it. I wish I had started using the forum earlier because I have known the site for quite some time.

Yes the behaviour here is pretty down-to-earth and everyone is intellegent.

Myself I do not know about other members of the freak zone, but dealing with all the mainstream websites (cutting edge hot topic stuff / heavy rock/ hard metal) on one-side and the elite super fast/ ultra heavy one's the other-side. I never appreciated trying to tell fellow metal fanatics, about some cool band, at those places, and have them try to discredit a band, and try to tear down there career, at all cost, no matter what.

I have the atittude, I would like to see people try to help out the bands, that deserve our support. Instead of all the in-house in fighting, between members of the same genre. I do not expect everyone here to agree on everything, but once you really decided what types of guitar tones and music expression styles you really listen to, this resource really completes your record collection. I gave up on most metal publications and most metal webzine around 2001, except a couple choices ones, and avant garde metal fills in all the gaps in my collection, that would be caused by relying on just monthly or quarterly publications. Instead of getting every publication world-wide, and finding only one cool band per issuse, this one webzine/ print editons, has everything at your finger tips.

With a stapler or glue, a case of paper and a case of ink cartriges, between issues 1 and 2 and the ag-m classics 1987-2000, and the all the weekly/ monthly updates and all the weekly/ monthly record reviews, that is one of the best table books, ever assembled, just keep a l@@kout for the bands, that shared the same headspace as yours and the ones that don't just give them credit and respect. My favorite book/ encylopdia... SOME ASSEMBLY required !!!!, author's 27 metal maniacs from all over the globe !!

LONG LIVE AVANT GARDE METAL WEBZINE/ PRINT EDITIONS !!!

Hey, I think it's the good thread.. This website is awesome, but I suggest you could create a sub-forum utterly dedicated to self-promotion.. I mean, it'd be much easier to comment and keep a track of the artists from AGM.com :p

Interestingly I havn't heard or read any complaints as to why certain bands are on our site that some do not consider agm... I appreciate our reader's coolness and ability to let everyone be their own judge.

Well, there've been a few some year ago, I remember my enthusiasm for MESHUGGAH as an AGM band was questioned, but we've "grown away" from that kind of reasoning. No flame wars here, if people disagree, we discuss, and if we still disagree, that's fine.

OK, I have one complaint: the ladies. Are there any female users active here? Maybe idling, but actively writing here? It's not like we have a male chauvinist pig atmosphere here. Maybe we're just too nerdy...?

Dreadful discovery: are we... the Trekkers of Metal? *gasp*

I just wanted to point out to you that chauvinism has nothing to do with sexual discrimination but is a school of thought characterized by unconditional patriotism.

Nope, but male chauvinism has, at least in Swedish, been taken on as a term for a lighter form of sexism, and I think it's the same in English?

Well the book I read it in is from an english writer and he says it is a misuse of the word and clarified what it really means. But not being a pain in the ass about it, just threw in something I picked up on the way so... :-)

Word web says chauvinism is:
1) Fanatical patriotism
2) Activity indicative of belief in the superiority of men over women

So, since the 2nd definition probably comes from misuse (as David said), terms that would be more appropirate are male chauvinism and antifeminism

That settle's it - male chauvinism is patriotism where manhood is the fatherland!
