Autechre had 2 releases this year?

Sure, and they both surprised me in a good way. Sounds like Autechre explores the more concrete sides of abstract/digitalized IDM this time around (if this makes any sense! heh), where in fact they come from. Very enjoyable! Let me know your impressions if you listen to the albums.

For me "Oversteps" is light years ahead of "Icunabula" or "Tri Repetae" which I couldn't enjoy.
Are all the five releases in 2000 (according to amazon.de) like that!?

My short encounter with "Oversteps" : their intentions had grown bigger, compared with "Quaristice" (the previous, 2008).
Had they divided their preferences in two, because I checked a track from the second 2010 release - an abstract glitch I'm not falling in for at present.

Light years ahead? Indeed. "Icunabula" was released in 1993, "Tri Repetae" in 1995 and "Oversteps" in 2010. You do the maths!

The 5 releases in 2000? According to discogs.com and my personal discography, there is only 1 album released in 2000, "Peel Session 2". Which albums are you talking about?

Well, it's true that "Move of Ten" is a bit more glitch and abstract, although it's not "Confield" or "Draft 7.30" or "æo³ & ³hæ" - far from it! I wouldn't say they have divided their preferences... Listen to the whole album, it's just another piece of Autechre version 2010.

Yeah, amazon was wrong... or in some cases they mention that it's a reissue. What do you like about Oversteps?

I listened to Oversteps with the Juno Records Player, so I must have listened to maybe less than a half of the album. The site files are under Downtempo - Experimental/Electronic but I like this kind ... very organic, not the kind of plastic vibrancy ... the tones are like bright extensions into space. It's sort of devoid of events, but alive and sobre surrounding. Elsewhere on my small archive for music is stacked with much emotion, even illusion, to me on this criterion Oversteps is an alternative.

John Zorn's released a couple albums so far this year (and there are supposed to be more to come), but Chimeras was not one of them. Maybe there was a reissue? It came out originally in 2003.

But if you liked In Search of the Miraculous, check out The Goddess if you haven't already. It's part of the same series, also released this year.

Clair Cassis - self-titled - Josh and Angela from Velvet Cacoon teaming up with a drummer... the results are amazing to say the least! Fans of Burzum, VBE and Infernus' Gorgoroth should be delighted.

My favorites so far are:

Autechre - Oversteps
Culprate - Unknown Dubs
Extra Life - Made Flesh
Fukpig - Belief Is the Death of Intelligence
Ihsahn - After
Kayo Dot - Coyote

Also, the 2CD reissue of Yen Pox's Blood Music is a beautiful thing. :)

Antares Predator - Twilight of the Apocalypse - So tight it almost hurts, machine gun riffing and light-fast drumming, this band will probably gather new fans with their new album. Don't expect something original or AGM, it's really just extreme Black/Thrash/Death with a touch of sci-fi. Same guitarist composer as in Aptorian Demon, WARACH, the guy played in Keep of Kalessin when the band actually was still interesting, i.e. not full-on EPIC yet. This fucks KoK's last few albums in the ass big time, as far as I'm concerned.
