im planning on recording with a friend of mine, but we want to start with sinthetik drums, at least while he gets better with the real drums what program can we use that sounds realistic
I use Toontrack EZ Drummer, just the basic set, no expansion packs yet, and I love it. It sounds great if you trigger it with a MIDI kit or MIDI controller keyboard, very sensitive to different velocity hits. And the "Room Mix", "leakage" and "humanize" functions really bring out the "live" kit sound.
I also hear that BFD is a very good sample set. The drums in FL Studio's FPC are very good, and allow you to replace them with other samples.
Hey, do you want me to email you some of my MIDI files from some of my old music? I should be able to send them to your address (in your profile)

Hey Anticitizen I rendered the guitarpro project with some tracks like the choir and drums muted. Then put the mixed wav in Acidpro, then imported the midi tracks for choir etc. and replace them with Vsti instuments. I named the track Soul Garden, just because if i dont I end up with lots of tracks called 'new track' or 'next one' etc.. and that is confusing.
Normally a good realistic drum program needs a powerful computer, especially for fast kick and grind parts. I used BFD for your track but I cant listen to it in real time, so normally I just build up drums with oneshot samples.
But try a few drumsynths out and see what you like, In the past I have used the redrum module in Reason and also Rayzoon is pretty cool. A lot of people i know use Battery.

PD: tell me about confusing, all my songs are named by numbers, this is the 3rd generation of songs and im already in the 190 or so, not mentioning the version, i have like ten versions on one track xD

Jammed around on Cal´s riffs a bit today. I have to cut a bit, but expect some drumparts around next week.

Ah... Whoever feels destined to mix this (Suleiman?), how would you like to have the drum-parts served?
I have recorded three or four basic patterns (3/4 Doublebass, 240-Blast, Straight 4/4, a little weirder 4/4); three fills as well as two or three longer improvised parts, all awaiting cutting. But to avoid unnecessary work, I´d like to ask first what is preferred I should upload:
1. Each micro seperate, with base and snare converted as a MIDI-track so whoever does this can vary the sounds
2. I mix everything but base and snare (which will be MIDI) beforehand, delivering one pre-mixed WAV-file + 2 MIDI tracks
3. You get no MIDI´s but the original sound mixed as WAV (might not sound as good)
And another thing: I didn´t stick to the mix of Suleiman and the others concerning the lenght of the song, instead I just jammed on Cal´s riffs plus the synths in infinite loops to get some drum ideas. That way you can always change the length of the finished song by copy/paste/cut my patterns.
So long!

hey tentakel...im salivating at the thought
im a wave man myself at present (since using a laptop soundcard).....so i would prefer wave files.........
best way is to upload segments as waves...........mix down the drum tracks as a track wav...and equalize as you best see fit with the tones you would like to see....
plus an mp3 file to illustrate what drum pattern fits which part....
thanx in advance...you can upload the midi for cal and others who may want to experiment with that......
rock on
and try using zshare and zip files for upload (easiest quickest upload/downlaod by far)

Okay, WAV then! ...though if anyone wants MIDI-files I´ll have them, cause I will over-sample the base and snare anyways for better sound.
I might not make it this week, work is tougher than I thought. But I´ll spend christmas with family in Poland and I think I´ll have one or two quiet minutes there... I sincerely hope I´ll manage this year!

My stuff is coming up tonight when I´m back home. It is about 60 MB and the MIDI has some weird piano sound instead of the snare but I´m sure Cal or Suleiman will fix it... After all, the impulses are there Or would it be avantgarde to leave the Piano...?

Actually, the patterns are not necessarly fixed to a special song part, they work on every part. You may arrange them however you feel. For example, I´m not sure if the blastbeat is too fast for the song but you get it in case you want it for something (I just couldn´t stop myself, I love blasts ) If you do not like/have any use for a part , then just discard it.
Btw, Suleiman, what the hell is going on in Pakistan? I just read that Bhutto died this morning from her wounds from the assassination attempt yesterday and that people started quite a ruckus about it. Not to mention the 20 other victims. I hope you and your family are well and safe over there
Edit: Last sentence even more so today. Media here is full of reports on riots and raids in Pakistan. Take care, man...

Okay, fellas, here it is. Suleiman, the drums without MIDI is pretty much only overheads with toms, you´ll need to apply the MIDI to have the full picture. I guess you´ll figure out Anyway I have enclosed an MP3 to give you a preview of how it can sound completed.
Oh btw, the way I arranged the riffs from Cal is not compulsory, it´s just how I played on them. Feel free to use them any way you like.
Have fun and let me hear something!
