Finally got to listen to the whole "Communion" album by Septic Flesh - Suleiman is dead-on about these guys
I know I've said it before, but they really do take all the interesting elements of combining Symphonic Orchestra and Metal and do it RIGHT. The variations of rhythms and the tightness of their playing is what really brings it all together.

And just as Brain Drill are gaining momentum, didn't they just break up? Perhaps an epic poem is needed to portray our dismay at this odd turn of events??

glad you guys like it
yeah, i heard about them breaking up...ine one EP and 1 album they have a killer legacy...strangely i have seen the brain drill guys catch a lot of flak for their music "tring to hard" and being "fake" while the same people are tripping over themsleves praising all the usual deathcore crap
..weird!

I don't really see whats wrong with the new deathcore style; once the kids get over Job for a Cowboy there are some decent bands beneath the trends. And then its on to true Death Metal, perhaps?

well they are the tightest most brutal drama queens ever....
but im glad to kow there may be more brain drill in the future
@potentate : there is a lot to be said on the subject (as you will find in detahcore bashing threads all over the net). in a nutshell for people who have grown up listening to real death metal , thrash and hardcore, death core is a watered down abomination (further crippled by the need for slow chugga bits aka breakdowns). That being said, i have enjoyed albums from artists like cataract, the red chord and war from the harlot's mouth but i seldom find myself coming back....unlike the greats of death metal (entombed, morbid angel, nile, origin, obituary, devastation etc) and hardcore (sick of it all, amebix, discharge, exploited, his hero is gone etc)

A question on the Lig's latest Burzum review...
Seven Harmonies Of The Unknown Truth - that's an Ildjarn cassette. Is it a Burzum song too, or is the bootleg really really messed up?
hei eg heter Varg!

The photo of Varg? It was taken just a few weeks ago, he wanted to get out of prison (serving 2/3 of his time, trying to be a nice guy etc), but his request was cancelled - I think the fact that he burnt churches and turned nazi still stings in the eyes of the goverment (considering they let Bård Faust out after about 10 years for homicide).
(and the text means "Hi my name is Varg!" in Bergen-Norwegian)

Maybe the fact that he tried to break out of prison a few years ago during his first permission to go out (coupled with armed car-jacking) to try to leave the country for the french Foreign Legion didn´t please them, either...
