Post your TOP 5 agm albums 2007
For the end of this year we'll do a SPECIAL about what happened in AVANT-GARDE METAL 2007. For this we'd like to know

your TOP 5 ALBUMS of 2007

Please post them here or send them to us at http://www.avantgarde-metal.com/content/contact.php

There are 4 rankings:
- Top 5 avant-garde metal albums 2007
- Top 5 avant-garde metal newcomers 2007
- Top 5 albums beyond the border 2007
- Top 5 avant-garde metal albums ever

You don't have to name all 4x5=20 albums. Of course you also can send us just one or two of these rankings. If you don't have five top albums you also can send e.g. just your top 3. We're looking forward to hear what impressed you most this year!

Thanks a lot!
Chrystof

Post in no particular order
in no particular order, and this list may be updated as I think more about it...

Porcupine Tree "Fear of A Blank Planet"
Wolves in the Throne Room "Two Hunters"
Xasthur "Defective Epitaph"
Mayhem "Ordo Ad Chao"
Abigor "Fractal Possession"
Sigh "Hangman's Hymn"

more to come as I my brain settles in and realizes that 2007 is almost over.

I think it's absolutely no problem if some entries on a top list are at the very border of avantgarde metal or even beyond. All individual lists will be summed up into one big list in the end. So albums named only by 1 or 2 persons won't get a top ranking anyway. So "non-agm albums" will be filtered out automatically.

On the other hand if albums that the crew considers "not-agm" achieve top-rankings, then probably there is something wrong with the view of the crew - because then these albums are agm by collective definition.

The overall top list is a great tool to destillate our collective definition of what definitely is avantgarde metal! Thanks a lot to everybody who has contributed to it so far! The more people take part in it the higher the value of this ranking will be.

I hate to place stuff in genres, but i'll give it a try:
2007:
Ulver - shadows under the sun
Björk - Volta (electric-avantgard-ish)
DHG - Supervillain outcast (although i'm not overimpressed..)

some of the best ever (won't put one at the top or bottom since all depends on mood):
Ulver - blood inside
Ulver - themes from william blake's "the marriage of heaven and hell"
DHG - 666 international
Arcturus - La masquerade Infernale
Björk - Medùlla (still think she fits in this genre)
Patton/kaada - Romances
+more
