Regarding Krallice, ...

Um, ... what the ???

I like the music, too, but I'm not ready to commit to such an intimate relationship with it, ... a little too creepy for me.

Great music. Creepy review.

I, as most it seems after that review, have also listened to Krallice. And I dare say it's a damn killer of an album. Rarely do you hear such a magnificent resuscitation and preservation of the old ultra-Norse style (Ulver/Isvind/Kvist rather than Mayhem/Darkthrone). But still with that Weakling-postrock sensibility. In short, the album is fucking AWESOME. So thanks Olivier for poking at my attention with the review. I hop Barr wasn't hurt by my degradation of his logo, haha...

among tons of other great discoveries, I'd like to thanx Olivier for this one as well - fucking awesome album, as you said my friend, very Ulver-Isvind-Kvist-ish with this US touch :)

Oh and I checked the previous project of the KRALLICE drummer, Astomatous - you should check that as well, they're reclaiming themselves of Gorguts and Ved Buens Ende.

Willi... you mean Alfons Åberg, the bald little 1970s cartoon/children's book-character? I don't know actually, even though I put him there. Somewhere it felt reasonable. So you have him in Germania? Cool. I hated the guy when I was young. There was something... perverted about him, you know. Him, his make-believe friend, his father - who looks suspiciously a lot like Sweden's prime minister Fredrik "Next biggest douche in the universe" Reinfeldt...;

Post The Axis of Perdition - Urfe review
I think even after dozens of listens to this one (The Axis of Perdition - "Urfe") I still won't be able to get into it at all. It's just too perplexing. Much like Fantomas' "Delirium Cordia", it's just too much "atmosphere", not enough music.

A few creepy moments in "Deleted Scenes from the Transition Hospital" and "The Ichneumon Method (And Less Welcome Techniques)" really established the mood and added to the feel of the albums, but "Urfe" is just too much of a not-so-great-thing to begin with.

I respect this talented band for daring to push the limits, but it just didn't work for me this time.

Here's a quote from Brian Eno that sums it up for me: "Avant-garde music is sort of research music. You're glad someone's done it but you don't necessarily want to listen to it."

Hey Lig: Nice Type-O review! I love the last line - genius, which should not be mistaken with lack of talent ;-)

Note to myself: listen to "Bloody Kisses" tonight and indulge in nostalgia.

I second that on type 0-. Great band, great review.

And Tentakel - that Golden Dawn review really turned me on to them, but I still haven't heard anything by them! Anything referring to old video games and Bal-Sagoth must be completely killer...

Type O Negative... mmmm

I'll have to put it on at work today- the digi version that is, because "Suspended in Dusk" is one of the best doom songs ever.

between bloody kisses and october rust, type o essentially perfected what can be called s toungue-in-cheek romantic dream doom metal....those two albums are easliy in the top 100 of all time.......

the debut is great too, but for entirely other (and very metal) reasons
